Comment on Juno ** by chrissy

while I really liked juno, for numerous reasons and it made me cry, there are a lot of things i don't like about juno. particularly how completely 100% simple, easy, and fun it is to be a pregnant teen. I've heard numerous stories since the release of the movie about teens getting pregnant and deciding to keep the baby so that they, too, might have the whimsical, joyous journey that juno had in the movie.

Granted, not every situation of teen pregnancy is to be looked upon as a burden and a nightmarish hell that ruins your life, but I think that the light they shed upon it made it seem like anytime any teenager gets pregnant that she can simply give it up after its birth to a nice, rich, white family. Maybe it's the pro-choice in me that doesn't like this image dancing around in teen girls' heads while they're having sex with their dead beat of a boyfriend that probably won't stick around through the pregnancy, much less date you afterward.

And although i can't speak from experience, isn't it incredibly hard to carry a baby to term, birth it, and give it away before you even get to know it? What makes these girls think that it would be so easy to detach yourself from a baby that you've gone through all the effort of caring for for the last 9 months and given away to someone else?

I definitely think its the pro-choice in me that doesn't agree with the message in this film.

Is it bad that I read Perez....? I mean come on didn't you watch that episode of south park with britney....?

ok I'm kidding. But in seriousness I do read perez. I am a firm believer that you become a celebrity because you want it. I don't think necessarily that every last bit is deserved, such as the fake headlines and the speculations on relationships between celebrities etc. but if you want it you've got it. I dont know if you've ever watched a show about that typical little girl who wants nothing more than to be "celebrity" and have the cameras flashing and the boys all over her and so on. I stand behind the fact that these people go head first into it, knowing that it will happen.

Kurt, on the other hand, is a different story. He gained celebrity status through actually being talented and being ludicrously good looking while he was at it. He was the first of his kind to make it to celebrity status on the grunge scene and I'm sure it's not what he wanted. It was just what he got. Somewhere along the line though he probably wanted the sold out stadiums and the screaming fans. At some point, I'm sure he got sick of it and didn't want the media anymore. But once they're on you, they're hard to get rid of.

I can't really say for sure that I know these things about Kurt because I've met the guy, but like the media, it's just speculation.

I think Mr WordPress said it all when he said "hi, this is a comment."

But anyway, congrats to you in your blogitorial efforts! Keep it going. I've probably created and deleted about a million blogs at this point, most were to write thoughts in but I just couldn't keep it up. Keep on writing, as I think writing helps everyone to move forward in thought.

It definitely organizes things and puts them right in front of you.

Now, the question is, are things spiraling outward or inward...?
